Our verdict

Businesses that default on merchant cash advances almost always develop a second problem on the way down: they stop making estimated tax payments. Then the IRS notice arrives on top of the funder’s lawyer’s letter. CuraDebt is the rare accredited firm built for exactly that combination, it negotiates business debt and works with the IRS and state revenue offices on payment plans and penalty mitigation.

The track record is real: operating since 2001, IAPDA-accredited counselors, a 4.8-star profile across Trustpilot and Google, and remarkably few complaints for the volume. Fee structure is the conventional percentage-of-enrolled-debt model, around 20%.

Two honest limits. First, geography: settlement isn’t offered in about twenty states, so check yours before you get attached. Second, tempo: a 36–48 month program is fine for tax debt, but daily ACH debits don’t wait three years. If the MCA is the emergency and the taxes are the aftermath, sequence accordingly: stop the bleeding with a specialist first.

What we like

  • One of the few accredited firms handling federal and state tax debt alongside business debt
  • In business since 2001; IAPDA-accredited counselors
  • Excellent review profile with a low complaint count
  • Free counseling session before any commitment

What gave us pause

  • Debt settlement not offered in roughly 20 states
  • 36–48 month programs; not built for the speed an MCA crisis demands
  • Tax specialization, not MCA specialization: no COJ/UCC litigation muscle

Who it’s for

  • Business debt tangled with IRS or state tax balances
  • Owners who want one firm for both problems
  • Smaller balances, the $5K minimum is the lowest on this list

Who should look elsewhere

  • Residents of the ~20 excluded states
  • MCA emergencies that need week-scale action

“I am on the verge of retiring and spoke with a couple different debt consolidation companies prior to enrolling with Curadebt in 2017 with almost $60,000 worth of debt. The team has worked with me and accommodated me and has been so gracious in helping me be able to retire debt-free. Its an amazing feeling, and I truly would not have been able to accomplish it without Curadebt!I highly recommend this [name withheld]”

What complaints and critics wrote

“I have been dealing with Curadebt since November of 2022. In the beginning they were great. They settled 3 of my debts. Then a creditor sued me and things went downhill from there. Their legal service that I pay $40 a month for did answer the complaint, but when I had a question about bankruptcy they gave me a phone number for an attorney and said I would get a discount on the fee if he charged me! I have since gotten my own attorney and decided to file bankruptcy. I requested 3 times my balance be refunded but they ignored me. They charged my account this month which I asked them not to. Now my checking account is overdrawn. They made my situation worse.”

“I signed up for debt resolution with Curadebt on March 22, 2021. Curadebt would negotiate with each creditor for settlement amount. After that, Curadebt would draft the payment plan for me. [name withheld] would withdraw money from my checking account monthly. [name withheld] would draft the checks to pay the creditors. My last payment was on March 15, 2024. All my credit accounts were closed with zero balance. I was moving on living my life peacefully, and rebuilding my credit along the way. On a sudden, starting around April 2025. I got calls and emails from many Curadebt personnels stating that I still owed Balance on [name withheld]. I checked my credit report. I found delinquent balance on my [name withheld] closed account out of nowhere. Nothings showing on [name withheld]. I called [name withheld]. [name withheld] referred me to [name withheld], the debt collection company. They asked me to provide the proof of payment from Curadebt. I called Curadebt and discussed the situation with many people there. I got a chance to talked to [name withheld] who took care of my case from the beginning. He confirmed that I already finished all the payments. He told me not to worry, just disregard any calls or emails from other personnels, or from [name withheld]. Its company responsibility to fix that problem for me. its almost a year, nothing is done, just unfulfilled promises. Someone told me hes gone. At the meantime, I still got calls, texts, and emails from them requesting a new settlement from me. They transferred my case to Debt Blue. They moved me to new bank. They are requesting me to sign another payment contract. I paid them for their services. They failed to complete their job. They were not just failed to pay off [name withheld] and [name withheld]. Back in April 2022, I finished my payment for [name withheld]. But they did not pay off the balance until the beginning of 2023. It costed my credit downfall. Im very frustrated and depressed.”

The company repliedRacha, Hope you are doing well. We are saddened to hear of your feeling stressed and that is not our intention. I have notified [name withheld], the director of client operations at [name withheld] and she will be working on resolving for you. Thank you for your patience while we solve for you.

“I signed up with the company for assistance with debt relief. As part of the program? They required me to enroll in their legal services. The first payment was approximately $500 and then there were monthly fees. I was supposed to have access to a lawyer should I need it in regards to my debts. When I receive a notification from [name withheld] that I was possibly being sued, they would not let Me talk to an attorney. I called them and the number for the legal service and was told no. Yet, I paid for the ability to have legal assistance. I never received any legal assistance. The program is a scam. They make you pay money into something that they dont allow you to use. As a result, after almost a year in the program, I had no choice but to exit it. They removed my access to the online account so I am unable to see the total amount spent on legal services but it was well over $500.”

Court records are public and they change. A filed complaint contains allegations, not findings, and a case appearing here is not a conclusion that the company did anything wrong. Where a case ended, we say how it ended. Where we could not confirm a docket, we say that too. One limit worth knowing: free docket sources show only what someone has already paid to fetch, so a case we describe as open may have been resolved since the date shown against it. Treat every date here as the last time the record was refreshed, not as today. Last verified August 24, 2026.
